As the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region serves as a bridge for the nation’s opening-up to the world, the national "15th Five-Year Plan" explicitly outlines goals to "build a Digital China" and "strengthen the inclusive development of special education." As a special school, we fully recognize the importance of keeping pace with the times. The 2026/27 academic year marks the beginning of our new three-year development plan; we will focus on two major concerns—"promoting digital education" and "planning for career development"—to build a bridge connecting the school environment with the community.
First, we will promote digital education to open up new dimensions of learning. Rather than blindly pursuing high-tech solutions, we aim to leverage technology to remove barriers. We will utilize government digital education subsidies to establish a "learning database" that employs big data to analyze each student's learning progress, strengths, and weaknesses, thereby enabling us to tailor individualized learning plans for students of varying abilities. To enhance teacher training and classroom transformation, we will introduce artificial intelligence (AI) to create a "smart campus"—featuring systems such as facial recognition for attendance, AI-driven sports learning tools, and AI-enabled smart gardens—to foster the practical application of life skills. Concurrently, we will collaborate with Hong Kong Education City to utilize the Quality Education Fund’s e-learning support schemes. By introducing appropriate educational software, we aim to facilitate diverse learning opportunities for students, truly realizing the vision of "teaching students according to their aptitudes" and ensuring "barrier-free learning."
Second, we will plan for career development and pave the way for diverse pathways. The "15th Five-Year Plan" emphasizes "prioritizing employment," making early planning crucial for students with special needs. We will introduce career planning curricula as early as the lower primary level and combine this with enhanced training based on individual interests to explore students' potential. Through partnerships with social enterprises and corporations, we will incorporate practical vocational training modules—such as horticulture and environmental protection, food and beverage services, and laundry operations. We will continue to arrange internships for senior students at partner organizations, allowing employers to witness the students' capabilities while fostering essential workplace soft skills, such as teamwork and time management. Our ultimate goal is to enable every graduate to find their own role in society with dignity and confidence.
Third, we will foster collaboration among home, school, and the community to build a support network. We will provide concurrent training for parents on the use of assistive technology, extending digital education into the home environment. At the same time, we will organize regular visits to adult service NGOs and invite alumni to share their work experiences, helping the public recognize that students with special needs are untapped treasures.
Hong Kong, backed by the motherland and connected to the world, will closely follow the nation's lead, not only imparting knowledge to students but also equipping them with the courage and ability to face future challenges. We look forward to witnessing each child embark on their journey in the digital age and live a fulfilling life.
